Our Philosophy & Standards

Our goal is to produce dogs with great temperaments, solid working ability, sound conformation, and kind, outgoing personalities. We want you to take home a confident and happy puppy ready to become a member of your family.

Our breeding dogs are registered with the SV (German Kennel Club) and trace back to German and World champions. We breed to the German standard. German bloodlines are not only beautiful but generally healthier with longer lifespans. We focus on the West German Show Lines. Not only are these the dogs we love, but they are well suited to being a loving family companion.

Most of our imported adults are rated V (Excellent) with heavy VA (Excellent Select) ancestry. We also feature dogs that have earned a Schutzhund, IPO, or IPG title. These titles are indicative of the quality of the mind, temperament, and drive present in our breeding dogs. These are qualities that are reflected in their puppies.

We choose to import dogs whose hips and elbows have been rated Normal (the highest rating) or Fast Normal (the second highest rating). We also research the hip and elbow ratings of ‌previous generations, and we test for the Degenerative Myelopathy gene.

If you would prefer an adult, we are happy to discuss the purchase of one of our breeding adults. We are also happy to import a dog directly from Germany for you.

Passion and Commitment

A reputable breeder is passionate about their breed and dedicated to producing healthy, happy puppies. They are committed to the long-term health and well-being of their breeding dogs and have practices in place to ensure their puppies have a good start in life.

Knowledge and Expertise

A reputable breeder has a thorough understanding of their breed and is knowledgeable about genetics, breeding practices, and what makes their breed special. They should be able to answer questions about their breeding program and provide information about the history, temperament, and characteristics of their dogs.

Healthy Dogs

A reputable breeder is aware of and tests for the primary genetic disorders that can afflict their breed to minimize the chance those disorders are passed on to the puppies. They will understand that they cannot control or guarantee every puppy is perfect, but will do everything in their power to maximize the health of their puppies. And they will provide support and follow through with clients if/when something unpreventable and unexpected occurs.

Socialization

A reputable breeder will ensure that their puppies are well-socialized from an early age. This means extensive handling from birth and exposing them to different people, stimulations, and environments so that they are comfortable and confident in a variety of situations.

Ethical Breeding

A reputable breeder follows ethical breeding practices, including not breeding dogs too frequently or too young, avoiding inbreeding, and not producing puppies for profit or purely for looks. A reputable breeder has a good relationship with members of the veterinary community and believes in continuing education.

Ongoing Support

A reputable breeder provides ongoing support to their puppy buyers, including answering questions and advising on training, nutrition, and other aspects of puppy care. They will offer support from the day you take your puppy home to the day you say goodbye.
